It definitely helps. I still am unsure whats wrong w my gut. Dr. Berg on youtube led me to this product. I eat carbs and get bloating & utterly rancid gas. When I take these all symptoms mitigated by a good degree.It says take 1 w food. I worked my way up to 3 and i might start doing 4. There is very, very slight acid reflux feeling, but its mitigated with water easily.The results on my bloating and the odor are dramatic. 70% or more reduction on both.So I am thankful to Dr. Berg on this one. 5 stars!

I used to use Betain HCL to treat heartburn symptoms and it worked wonderfully. As noted by another naturopath, the misconception people have about heartburn is that it is caused by an excess amount of stomach acid. The truth is that the heartburn sensation is caused by the lack of stomach acid and the undigested foods cause this sensation. Taking the Betain HCL will help to eliminate the feeling of heartburn and will assist in the thorough digestion of foods, thereby allowing all the nutrients to be absorbed in the digestive track. When people consume the commonly prescribed antacid formulas to treat their heartburn, all they achieve is to have the consumed food to be passed down the digestive track, but without them actually being digested! A total waste of food consumption and also being exposed to the hazards of food born bacteria and the like that are naturally killed by the stomach HCL.

I was trying to determine if I had over acid or under acid stomach. I read that if I added a good quality HCI to my diet, then if that made things worse, I had an over acid stomach. If it made things better, I had an under acid stomach. Turns out it did make it worse. But it took me a while to notice. Wow, by the time I did notice, I wasn't sleeping at night - I'm like, "What is the matter with me?!" So, I "like" the product, because it answered the question I needed answered. I also read that if the HCI made things worse, what I needed to do was add some Tri-Salts to my diet (presumably that would help with the over-acid), so that's what I'm doing now. I think it is helping. It's slower than I would have liked, but I'm moving in the right direction.

This Betaine HCl is a wonderful product. Not all people can process proteins the same. Many people as they age don't have enough acid in their stomachs to process certain foods. They think they have too much acid, so they take antacids. What they end up doing is messing up their stomachs by not having enough. The test on the amount that should be taken is, during first meal take one, second meal, 2, on up until you have feel like you have acid reflux.
